What your first visit involves

Knowing what is coming makes a first appointment easier. Here is exactly how it works.

Your first appointment

Four things that happen

  1. Meeting the team

You will meet our staff and go over some basic health information. Nothing about this stage is a test — it is simply getting the practical details in place.

  2. A comprehensive diagnostic evaluation

A thorough assessment with attention to physical, genetic, developmental, emotional, cognitive and social factors. We use the diagnostic tools available to us to build a complete and accurate picture rather than a partial one.

  3. Reviewing your results

Once the assessment is complete, we review, explain and discuss the results with you. Please ask questions and raise anything that concerns you — we would rather you left with clarity than politeness.

  4. Agreeing a plan

With your results understood, we work together on any treatment plan that is needed. It is a joint decision, and it can be revisited as things change.

How we work

Transparency and communication

We recognise that every patient arrives with their own set of circumstances, so we use the diagnostic tools available to us to build a complete and accurate assessment rather than a quick one. Whatever we find, we explain — and we would always rather answer a question twice than leave you uncertain.
