Non-discrimination notice

Everyone is entitled to the same care here, and to the help they need in order to receive it.

Effective date:

Review required before launch

This notice must be reviewed by the practice’s attorney or compliance adviser before launch. Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act sets specific requirements for covered entities — including a civil rights co-ordinator, a written grievance procedure, and taglines offering free language assistance in the languages most commonly spoken by the population served in this state. Those taglines are not included below because the required languages depend on state data the practice needs to confirm. Whether the practice is a covered entity at all depends on the federal funding it receives, which is also a question for the adviser rather than this page.

Our commitment

EV Psychiatry complies with applicable federal civil rights laws and does not discriminate on the basis of race, colour, national origin, age, disability or sex — including sex stereotypes, sex characteristics, sexual orientation, gender identity and pregnancy. We do not exclude people or treat them differently for any of those reasons.

This applies to every part of how the practice works: who we accept as a patient, how appointments are scheduled, the care that is offered, and how anyone is treated by our team.

Help with communication

Tell us what you need and we will arrange it at no cost to you. That includes:

  • Qualified interpreters, including sign language interpreters
  • Written information in other formats, such as large print or accessible electronic formats
  • Adjustments to how an appointment runs — a longer appointment, a written summary afterwards, or a support person present

We ask that you do not rely on a friend or family member to interpret, particularly a minor. A qualified interpreter is free and keeps your information confidential.

Telling us something has gone wrong

If you believe EV Psychiatry has failed to provide these services, or has discriminated against you, you can raise it with us by email at hello@evpsychiatry.com. You can complain in person, by post, by telephone or by email, and we will help you put the complaint in writing if that is easier. Raising a concern will not affect your care.

Filing a civil rights complaint

You also have the right to complain directly to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office for Civil Rights. You do not have to raise it with us first. Complaints can be filed electronically through the Office for Civil Rights complaint portal, or by post or telephone:
